Description:
Tenders are invited for Consultancy for Gender Impact Assessment in Sagaing Region, Kachin and Shan States, Myanmar. Oxfam has been operating in Myanmar since 1999, working directly and through local partner organizations to reduce poverty, inequality and meet the humanitarian needs of 450,000 people across the country. Oxfam works with women's rights organizations, civil society organizations (CSOs), and national and international consortia and is committed to taking a rights-based approach in all that it does. In January 2020, the GLEASA project (Gendered Land and Extractives Action for Social Accountability) started and it is funded by European Union, working with Oxfam, KCWG (Kachin Conservation Working Group), YCT (Yaung Chi Thit), EarthRights International and GRET (Group de Recherches et d-Echanges Technologiques). The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the Civil Society Organizations(CSOs) being actively involved in transparent and accountable governance of natural resources and land use in Myanmar. The specific objectives are the gendered impacts of extractives and natural resource management (NRM) in Myanmar are identified, esclated and equitably addressed, CSOs and communities in Sagaing region, Kachin and Shan States are better able to secure their rights to natural resources, the extractives industry in Myanmar has stronger governance, regularion and monitoring mechanisms. The project activities are going on in three areas of Sagaing region, Kachin and Shan States in Myanmar. The initiative of the gender impact assessment to coordinate a comprehensive GIA of the extractives industires on law, policy, access and control of resources by women, men, decision-making roles, the potential for reform and the structures that contribute to constraining gender equality. The GIA will be participatory, supporting key stakeholder to form a commom understanding of key concepts, definitions and case studies, and also to identify safety risks related to women-s participation in enforcement mechanisms.
